If your vehicle is 3 years or older you are required by law to have an annual safety check. This is commonly known as a an
MOT test. The purpose of the MOT test
is to ensure the vehicle meets the
minimum safety requirements by law.
During the MOT test, the tester - a
person authorized by the government body
called VOSA - will conduct an inspection
and a comprehensive series of checks around the vehicle. This includes the
interior, exterior, under the bonnet and
under the vehicle. The result of each check
is recorded, and if the vehicle passes, a
certificate is issued. If the vehicle fails to
meet the required standards a failure
document is issued. Should any items
require advisory attention we will
notify you of these.
You may be fined for not having a up
to date MOT certificate. Also if the vehicle
is involved in an accident you may be asked to produce your MOT certificate. Failure to
produce an MOT certificate if requested by
a insurance company could affect any
claim, especially in a case of injury.
