Tyre Safety Tips

Tyres are probably one of the most overlooked components in a car. Considering when driving, they are our only contact with the road, it is alarming how little attension is paid to them.

Tyres perform several functions. They support the weight of the vehicle,
transmit acceleration and braking forces, change the vehicles direction
and absorb irregulations in the road surface.

Considering the forces involved, tyres perform an important task every
time your car is driven.

On wet roads in particular, worn tyres increase the risk of an accident.
Well worn tread patterns limit the amount of force tyres can transmit
to a wet road.

EXAMPLE: The braking distance for a tyre with a tread depth
of 1.6mm is twice as long as new tyres.
