Tyre Pressure
Air pressure is a vital ingredient for the performance of any tyre.
Their tyres task is to carry the load of the vehicle, It's vitally
important that the correct load of the vehicle, It's vitally important
that the correct air pressure is maintained. While 'Under Inflation'
will cause rapid irregular tyre wear, 'Over Inflation ' will damage
the tyre structure, both leading to possible tyre failure.
For best performance, maintain the air pressure recommended
by the vehicle manufacturer.
Tyre Tread
The tread provides grip, the deeper the tread tyres have, the more
grip they will deliver , especially in the wet conditions. To check
your tyres tread depth look for the tread wear indicators - These
are raised rubber strips in the bottom of the main tread grooves.
When the tread is down to the same level as these, your tyre has
reached its legal minimum tread depth.
Which by law is 1.6mm!
The fine for each defective tyre can be up to £2500
as well as 3 penalty points.
Tyre Rotation
Tyre rotation is recommended at 10,000 mile intervals to balance
tyre wear and increase overall tyre life. Some tyres are location
specific and cannot be rotated. Tyres fitted with different tyre
sizes front and reare may only be rotated left to right. The tyre
may need to be dismounted for rotation purposes if it is directional.
Finally Don't Forget Your Spare!
Make sure that your spare tyre is always
inflated to the correct air pressure and is
in good condition. |
